Short story “The Helicopter” published in Cagibi

In January I got a short story called The Helicopter published in Issue 5 of Cagibi, an upstart online literary journal out of New York. (You can read it online for free.) The story is based on a night in Sacramento more than ten years ago, when a police helicopter flew close by the apartment I was living in.

It’s a more intimate, personal piece of fiction than the things I’ve had published recently in Catamaran and elsewhere. It was also written first – the original draft about eight years ago when I was living in San Francisco, at a place that looked a whole lot like the picture above with the fire escape that Cagibi picked to pair with my story.
